As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Program, Overberg Asset Management is proud to be associated with various sponsorships:
In November 2017 OAM entered a two-year sponsorship programme with the Greyton Country Croquet Club (GCCC). The sponsorship programme covers the costs of hosting all matches played in the regional Robinson Cup tournament and for new branded shirts for the croquet team. The GCCC is a new and dynamic club in South Africa’s croquet community. Overberg Asset Management is privileged to be the official sponsor.
The Greyton Sport Club, a rugby team established in 2003, plays in the Community Shield Boland Rugby Union. For two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016 they were champions of the Community Shield Champions Overberg League and also reached the semi-finals in the Boland Top 12 Community Shield.
Roadside Soups works alongside the Red Cross and nutritional centres in Greyton and Genadendal, supplying soups and meals to over 50 elderly and needy people who only have their social grants to survive on. As well as distributing from kiosks, meals are also delivered to the very frail. Overberg Asset Management is proud to be the main sponsor of Roadside Soups, helping out where aid has not yet arrived.
We are very proud of our title sponsorship of the Genadendal MTB Mission and Trail Run. This annual event has become increasingly popular says Nick Downing, CEO of Overberg Asset Management.
The event comprises a 45km, 25km and 10 km MTB race, as well as a 21km and 10km Trail Run. The start and finish takes place at the historic Moravian Church square in Genadendal, with the local community involved in supplying catering services to hungry competitors and supporters. The local Red Cross and Greyton House primary school provide marshal and logistical support with proceeds going towards each contributing party.
Competitors have a choice of testing their technical and endurance skills by entering the longer distance events, or just to have fun with the family in the shorter events. The event takes place in mid-November each year.
The Rockhopper Youth Academy is aimed at promoting a general interest in mountain biking amongst children aged 5 to 12. In addition the Youth Academy also teaches riding skills and encourages all its riders to participate in PedalPower and Spur Schools League events. Overberg Asset Management is proud to be a sponsor of this investment in our youth.
The Landmark Foundation’s leopard and predator project was initiated in 2004 and addresses the persecution of predators and leopards in particular, by having established a leopard rescue, rehabilitation, release and research program. To date we have saved 40 leopards from certain death, but have also lost 36 leopards in that time to gin-traps, poisons and hunting. 23 leopards have been collared with GPS devices, making the research project one of the largest research studies undertaken on leopard.
As part of the project, several digital cameras with sensitive motion sensors have been placed on the Riviersonderend Mountain range in the vicinity of Greyton. These cameras have yielded amazing footage of local leopard behaviour and movement – and are providing vital clues to a better understanding of leopard corridors and general behaviour. Overberg Asset Management is proud to be a sponsor of this investment in our environment and wild life.
Since 2009 Overberg Asset Management has been the main sponsor of the weekly Eagles Golf Challenge at the Erinvale Golf Club in Somerset West. This has been a great honour for us and we are proud to be continuing in this role.
