How to transfer a Unit Trust to a Private Share Portfolio?

With Private Share Portfolios (PSP’s) clearly offering more benefits than Unit Trusts (UT’s) it makes sense to consider switching. Our financial advisers can help you determine if switching suits your financial needs. We have outlined the process in a few easy steps below.
Step 1

The process is simple and transparent: A Private Share Portfolio account is opened in the client’s name with the chosen custodian:

In South Africa:

• Investec Securities

• Nedbank Private Wealth

• Standard Bank Group Securities

• PSG Stockbrokers

In the UK:

• Charles Stanley Stockbrokers

• Platform Securities LLP

• Credo Wealth

Step 2

A capital gains tax calculation is completed to optimise how and when to sell the client’s UT. Unit trusts are sold based on research into individual UT’s, the market outlook and the result of the capital gains tax calculation.

Step 3

The cash raised is then invested in the new PSP identified to suit the client’s specific financial needs and goals.
